Mission Impossible: Catalog My Dad’s 1K+ LP Collection
I have a new task at hand and that is to catalog my dad’s 1000+ Vinyl Record LP (long play) collection. I’ve been putting off this task for quite some time now but decided to finally start.
To my horror, I found out that Amazon didn’t have records for most of them and the LPs didn’t have serial numbers! Which means I would have to type every single bit of information.
I’ve looked at various tools for doing so like MediaMan, Libra, Delicious Library and Amazon’s Your Media Library and decided to go with Discogs.com.
The reason for this is that there is an already large database of LPs in Discogs (around 300K) and the service allows me to showcase the catalog, put stuff up for sale, and most importantly, contribute to the site.
I’ve done a random selection of around 10 LPs so far and 3 are present in the database. I’d like to contribute entries and even photos of the LPs.
